The Brusilov Offensive was the largest Russian offensive on the Eastern Front in World War I. The battle took place from June 4 – September 20, 1916 and was fought between the Russian Empire on the one hand and the German Empire and Austria-Hungary on the other. The offensive can be seen as the biggest Russian victory in the First World War, but also the most expensive in terms of human lives.
