Nicolaas Jozef Hubertus (Huub/Henri) Levigne was a Dutch artist born on September 30, 1905 Meerssen.
From 1928-1933 Levigne studied at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam.
Upon graduation, he was awarded the silver medal of the prestigious Prix de Rome.
He returned to Maastricht where he further developed into a versatile artist, whose oeuvre includes paintings, watercolors, stained glass windows, murals, devotional prints and free graphic work.
He designed Queen Wilhelmina's 40-year government anniversary tile.
Not to mention between 1932 and 1960, Levigne designed 29 stamps for the PTT mainly children's stamps commemorative stamps and occasional stamps.
In 1950 he was appointed as a lecturer in the graphic department of the newly opened Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.
He got the title of professor there. In 1972 he went to emeritate.
