Johannes Hendrikus or Joop Dam was a writer and visual artist and lived in Zuid-Beveland for a long time. He initially became known for his impressionist watercolors of Zeeland waters and old fishing ports, but later mainly dealt with projects in the field of the natural environment of the tidal area and its pollution, combining scientific and artistic approach in a curious and very personal way.
